Favourite autumn kimono looks 2018

Autumn seemed to have passed by in the blink of an eye. Feeling bad for having neglected my blog all too much (I update all my kimono looks primarily on my instagram, but realized it's a shame to let my own page slide..) So let me make up for it and share my favourite outfits from the not-hot-yet-not-cold season: The mysterious red spider lily marks the beginning of autumn. This gloomy day really made the colours of the flowers pop. [...]

Snowboarding in kimono

When living in Germany I never got the chance to do any Wintersports apart from ice skating, but 3 years ago my husband taught my how to stand on the snowboard. We flew up to Hokkaido and went snowboarding for 3 days - in the beginning I kept falling on my knees and ass but on the 3rd day I had lots of fun! Since then time passed super fast and I got insecure if I could still do it. When [...]

Fudangi Kimono in New York

In October I travelled to New York to take part in an exhibition as well as hosted some kimono workshops and photo shoots while in the city. Almost a year ago I was asked if I'd like to contribute and style two kimono outfits for a small exhibition curated by Spree Kingyo (from Kingyo Kitsuke) in Germany and Yuki Hamada (from Kimono Modern) in Japan. I was super excited about this opportunity. The event was held at the Globus Washitsu (Traditional Japanese [...]

「きものサローネ2017」Kimono Salone

Like last year, I also joined the Kimono Salone event in Nihonbashi again. Because it was just before my New York trip I am super late to put everything into a proper blog post - but the pictures from the fashion show are too nice to keep them a secret. Kimono Salone is a kimono event where many kimono brands and artisans gather to show their new collections as well a chance to learn and try out some traditional craft. [...]

Kimono Styles July 2016

I regularly post my kimono coordinates on my Instagram & Twitter but fail to do so on my blog. So I thought I would show all the styles I wore in July here in a complete post. LET'S START ☆ For a meeting I chose a rather toned down summer kimono and spiced it up with a cute gold fish obi. The bag is from zoczoc and is made by artisans in a traditionally woven manner like for obi belts. No [...]

Saito Sansai – Roots of Jotaro Saito

Many of you probably already know about JOTARO SAITO, a kimono brand from Kyoto which I reported about previously. (At Tokyo Fashion Week & The store) (前回の記事:東京コレクション & 絹磨xJOTARO SAITOの紹介) JOTARO SAITO actually comes from a traditional line of kimono artisans in Kyoto. His father Saito Sansai also designs kimono (and revolutionised the industry already before Jotaro) and also Sansai has a father who started the kimono dyeing initially. Let's take a look into the history of the Saito line: First [...]
