Last weekend I also headed to the HIROCOLEDGE 10 Years Anniversary. HIROCOLEDGE is the brand led and designed by Artist Hiroko Takahashi. Patterns consisting of circles and straight lines are her trademark and she likes to create minimalist works, supporting Japanese culture and lifestyle. While working on her PhD of arts, she founded Hirocoledge in 2006 - which now - 10 years later is celebrating a decade in business. I joined the fun at her Studio located close to the Tokyo Sky Tree. She [...]

Year end kimono fun

Time seems to fly faster and faster these weeks. It's December and suddenly I feel overwhelmed with work - but that's a great thing after having a little too silent past months. Colder weather and the years final month calls for kimono events and the popular "忘年会" Year-end parties! So I found myself running around between 4 appointments yesterday. One was the FKI展 - Fashion & Kimono & Ikimono exhibit which is basically a joint pop up store in the famous Isetan [...]

Autumn feels

Last week we had a sudden curtain of snowfall here in the Tokyo area and I was a little worried - as I didn't have time yet to go out and appreciate the autumn foliage properly. Thankfully 2 days later we had bombastic weather so I jumped back into my kimono to embrace the yellow and red coloured trees. On my check list I had this lovely Japanese garden in Kokubunji called 'Tonogayato garden' so I got up early to get [...]

4 days of kimono

How are you doing? Hopefully not caught a cold? To be honest, I was down with some kinda flu or heavy cold 2 weeks ago. And that is also one of the reasons my blog was a bit silent. Took me some time to recover but I am almost good now. And once I was good I had to go out in kimono. Over the past weekend I was even out 4 days in a row in kimono. Usually I wear [...]

Kimono Salone Shows

The weekend was full of kimono fun again - Kimono Salone was opening its doors for a second event this autumn. Read about the previous event here 2016」Kimono Salone Finally it also is cold enough to wear some thicker kimono, so I could wear my Jotaro Saito Jersey kimono for the first time. (When I purchased it, it was hot summer.) Combined with an antique and vibrant obi this was a very nice outfit. (Apart from the fact that nothing worked that day and [...]

Fashion Week Tokyo SS17

Last week it was time for Tokyo Fashion Week again. Numerous designers from Japan and overseas showed their collections for Spring/Summer 2017 on the runway and in showrooms in Tokyo. As every season I also went to see some shows, however I was a little more selective this year because it actually is quite tiring and I was not too healthy.. The main shows were held in Shibuya's Hikarie building as every year - however the former "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo" changed [...]
