JOTARO SAITO AW16 Collection Up Close

A couple of days ago my friend Kumiko invited me to check out the JOTARO SAITO AW16/17 kimono collection up close. Now we both saw these beautiful pieces on the runway at Tokyo Fashion Week – but it’s a big difference to actually see them close and being able to touch the fabrics. 今週は友達の久美子さんに誘って頂いて、JOTARO SAITOの新コレクションを近くから見たり触ったりことができました。ランウェイショーで見るのは素晴らしいけど、やはり手にとって見るのは違いますね。☆ My kimono coordinate was dark and cool. Fashion Week Tokyo AW16/17 – JOTARO SAITO

Today I went to see the new AW 16/17 kimono collection of JOTARO SAITO from Kyoto. After seeing his show last year, I was super excited about his new line of designs. Fashion Week Tokyo AW16/17 – writtenafterwards

After the Jotaro Saito show I was heading to Omotesando to see the new collection of writtenafterwards which was held in Omotesando Hills – a high class fashion mall in Harajuku area. Known for its creative designs I was eagerly awaiting the shows start and it. was. beyond! When the first models hobbled and creeped through the runway I knew this is going to be fabulous. Unfortunately I didn’t have the best seat but could still enjoy the awesome designs and [...]

Fashion Week Tokyo AW16/17 – NGUYEN CONG TRI

On Tuesday I was invited to see the -Japan meets Vietnamese fashion- runway show with featured Vietnamese fashion designer Nguyen Cong Tri. I chose a casual outfit consisting of a snug Hoodie worn below a mens kimono with Hokusai wave print and Dr.Martens boots. (Picture taken by Matthew Sperzel Photography) To be honest I went there with rather low expectations (you know, usually the more famous designers show their collections later on the day). Or lets put it this way: I did [...]

The kimono kid x SALZ Tokyo

Last month I had an incredibly fun crossover collaboration with my dear friend Sasa from New York. Sasa is the head and creator behind the kimono kid and hand makes custom order kimono items in her atelier in Brooklyn. She does everything from scratch, taking the customers wishes and measurements, designs, hand dyes, cuts and sows kimonos, kimono jackets and anything wafuku you like in her studio. Only high quality locally US made denim or fabric, or else carefully sourced vintage kimono [...]
