Fashion Week Tokyo SS16 – h.NAOTO & YOSHIKIMONO

h.NAOTO The final day of Fashion Week I went to see the show of h.NAOTO in a warehouse like location in Chiba. Starting off with beautiful renaissance like goth dresses h.NAOTO tapped right into what one would expect. I was actually more surprised to see many ready to be worn simple print shirts and simple coats to be presented. This SS16 has Naoto experimenting with print graphics (the tights were just wonderful!) and military style. Also he put more detail on accessories [...]

Fashion Week Tokyo SS16 – Yuma Koshino & Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio

Next up at the Tokyo Fashion Week for me were the shows of Yuma Koshino and Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio. YUMA KOSHINO Last fashion week I was also invited to see her collection - so it was great to see the this seasons designs as well. Yuma Koshino impressed as always with fine details, great cuts and exquisite fabrics. Although this was the Spring/Summer 2016 collection, I was surprised by the rather dark color palette and fabrics of the first third [...]

The collection was simple and clean yet surprised with many lovely details. LOOM LOOP Up next was Loom Loop which I personally loved a lot! Vibrant prints in pastel colors perfectly matched, interesting cuts and shapes and [...]

Fashion Week Tokyo SS16 – Tenbo & byU

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo kicked off already and I got invited to see the newest collections from tenbo & byU. Starting off with tenbo I was very surprised by the deep story behind the designs and the show. For instance the theme of this collection was "1945". A 'little boy' eating yellow cake and a 'fat man' appaered at the beggining of the show. They are the symbol of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki - yellow cake is [...]

It was like a dream come true and walking through the city dressed up traditionally made me feel so good. Life feels different while wearing kimono. Your whole body positure and way of walking and doing things changes, becomes more gracefully really. Afterwards I had no time, knowledge nor idea how to be able to wear a kimono [...]
